On a good day, Paris is one of the best cities in the world for art. For one week every autumn, it becomes the art world’s capital. This year, Art Basel Paris returns for its fifth edition on October 23 to October 25, marking the fair’s third year in the iconic Grand Palais.
If you’re not familiar with the fair, Art Basel’s an art-world institution, and one of the most important art fairs in the world. It brings together top gallerists, contemporary creatives, and celebrities from around the world to its whistlestop tour of Miami Beach, Hong Kong, Paris, Doha, and Basel, of course.

Where to stay during Art Basel Paris
The perfect trip to Paris starts and ends with a great homebase. Chateau Voltaire
Chateau Voltaire is an art-world favorite. Located in the 1st Arrondissement between the opera and the Tuileries, this where you’ll brush elbows with the real insiders at Art Basel Paris. The hotel is peaceful and discrete, making it a favorite amongst the A-Listers in town for the fair. There’s a bit of personality here, too: Chateau Voltaire combined together three historic buildings under the vision of Franck Durand to give each of the 31 rooms a distinct feel and flair. The interior design is elegant, sophisticated, and a soothing sight for sore eyes after a long day at the fair. There’s a wellness center as well, if you want to be pampered while you’re in Paris.
Chateau Voltaire is a bit further away from the Grand Palais, but the trip is manageable: Book a car ahead of time, and you’ll be there at the fair in just 10 minutes.
Cour des Vosges
There’s a mystery that hangs over Cour des Vosges: Is it a mansion, or is it a chateau?
The 17th-Century hotel overlooks Paris’ oldest planned square. Despite its central location, Cour des Vosges is one of the city’s most intimate residences: There are just 12 rooms, which makes it the perfect sanctuary away from the crowds. The design is modern and elegant, while celebrating the building’s heritage and architectural features.

Where to eat during Art Basel Paris
Le Clarence
If you want to stay near Grand Palais for dinner, Le Clarence should be at the top of your list. The restaurant is housed within a mansion, designed and built in the 19th Century by the renowned architect Henri Parent. It’s a two-Michelin Star restaurant that offers guests the opportunity to bask in the romance and elegance for which Paris is known.
By October Le Clarence’s esteemed garden will be closed to guests, but there’s plenty of space to take in the ambiance inside. Competition for a table will be fierce: Le Clarence is open for both dinner and lunch, and be sure to book ahead of time to avoid any disappointment.
Le Savarin
As the newest offering from master chef Franck Baranger’s La Pantruchoise group, Le Savarin was Paris’ most anticipated new restaurant before it opened in the summer of 2025. It’s become a critic’s darling for unpretentious eats: The bistro is refined but affordable without compromising quality or class.
Foodies take note: You might recognize the restaurant, as it was formerly home to Baranger’s seafood concept restaurant Belle Maison.
Where to shop during Art Basel Paris
OFR Paris
Shakespeare & Company might be Paris’ most well-known bookstore, but OFR Paris is the city’s hidden treasure. The independent shop has one of the best collections of art books, magazines, and accessories that the city has to offer. This is where the real art-world insiders stop by when they’re in Paris, so be sure to plan a visit while you’re in town.
L’éclaireur
If you’ve visited L’éclaireur’s Los Angeles outpost, you know the drill: This Parisian concept store stocks top art and design pieces alongside the latest from top high-end designers like Jil Sander, Dries Van Noten, and Maison Martin Margiela.
There’s a reason it’s called “trailblazer” in French: The shop was founded by Armand and Martine Hadida in 1980 on the Champs-Elysées, and has since expanded to three different locations across Paris.
The Broken Arm
Cool hunters adore The Broken Arm: It’s one of the city’s buzziest boutiques, with a range of contemporary design staples and archival pieces. Fashion trends start here, so be prepared to spend some time browsing and some time people-watching as well. The cafe has a cult following as well, so don’t miss the oeuf mollet et Comté or the fresh baked goods.
