How do you get to Austin Airport?
By car: Most visitors to Austin Airport will arrive by car. From downtown Austin you need to take the TX-71 East toward Bastrop and follow signs for AUS Airport. The journey takes about 10–15 minutes without heavy traffic.
By bus: Austin International Airport runs two bus services from downtown to the airport.
Route 20 (MetroRapid): Starting at the airport, the 20 operates every 15-30 minutes, serving downtown Austin and the University of Texas campus, ending on Manor near U.S. 183. It costs $1.25 a single ride.
Route 483 (Night Owl): This route runs between midnight and 4:00 AM, servicing the Montopolis neighborhood via Riverside Dr and ends downtown on 6th street.
By train: There is currently no direct train line between the city and the airport, but there are plans for a Blue Line light rail connection which is estimated to run from 2029.

Note: A new Yellow Parking Garage at Austin Airport is expected to partially open in late 2026 and fully open in 2027. The garage will provide 7,000 spaces and fully replace the Red Garage, which will be removed as part of ABIA’s wider airport expansion.
Barbara Jordan Terminal parking
Red Garage: The closest and more premium parking garage at Austin-Bergstrom Airport. It is the closest garage to the main Barbara Jordan Terminal, taking just a few minutes to reach the airline check-in gates. A covered parking garage with elevators and a direct connection to Level 3.

Blue Garage: Located behind the Red Garage, taking a 3-minute talk to reach the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

Economy Garage: The largest parking garage at AIBA. A 5-7 minute complementary shuttle transfer is required to reach the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

Overflow / H-Lot: The H-Lot parking garage is often used when all other garages are full. A shuttle is required to reach the terminal.

South Terminal parking
There are two dedicated parking garages at Austin Airport’s South Terminal: Premium Lot and Economy Lot.
Premium Lot: Usually has available spots upon arrival, short walk (around 4 mins) to the terminal.

Economy Lot: The old South Terminal Economy Lot was closed Dec 2025, and has been replaced by Economy Lots 3, 4, & 5. Does not usually need to be booked in advance and is a short walk from the terminal.

Austin-Bergstrom Airport: Terminal overview
Austin Airport has two terminals. The main terminal is the Barbara Jordan Terminal, and there is also the smaller South Terminal.
The South Terminal is not connected to the main Barbara Jordan Terminal, and can only be reached using a dedicated shuttle bus service from the main terminal, which departs every 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can drive directly to the South Terminal, which has designated parking facilities.

Austin Airport has several comfortable lounges with many great amenities, all located within the Barbara Jordan Terminal. There are no lounges available in the South Terminal.
American Airlines Admirals Club (Across from Gate 22): American Airlines operates one of its Admirals Club Lounges in Austin Airport, featuring complimentary amenities and services such as a snack bar, drinks, work spaces and access to showers, all within a comfortable and stylish space.
