How do you get to Copenhagen Airport?
Getting to and from Copenhagen Airport couldn’t be easier, thanks to the city’s fantastic transport infrastructure, that includes a metro, trains, and multiple bus services.
Traveling to Copenhagen Airport by metro
Metro (Line 2): The metro is probably the easiest and most direct way to get to and from Copenhagen Airport. The line runs directly from the city centre to Terminal 3. The station is a straight walk from arrivals and no transfers needed. The metro takes 13-15 min from Nørreport and runs throughout the day and night. A 3-zone ticket costs approximately 36 DKK ($5.60 USD).
Note: If you're only traveling with hand luggage, there's a 100-metre footbridge from the metro station directly to the security checkpoint and Terminal 2 which is handy for a quick departure.
Traveling to Copenhagen Airport by train
Regional Train (DSB): The regional train departs from the basement of Terminal 3, and is ideal if you need to connect to another city or intercity service. The train runs every 10 minutes during the day to and from Copenhagen Central Station and takes roughly 15 minutes. The DSB also once an hour at night. The train also costs 36 DKK for a 3-zone ticket.
Getting to Copenhagen Airport by bus
Bus (5C): Alternatively, if you’re looking for the most affordable way to travel to Copenhagen Airport, then the bus is a great option. Costing 30 DKK ($4.66 USD), the bus departs from outside Terminal 3, running to Central Station via central Copenhagen. While it’s the most affordable travel option, it is the slowest, taking 30-40 minutes.
Getting to Copenhagen Airport by car
If you wish to travel to Copenhagen Airport by car, the main access to the airport is from the E20 motorway in both directions. Car parks are clearly signed, so just follow the signs for the number of the car park you’re looking for.
Blacklane Chauffeur Service: For the smoothest and most comfortable journey, book a Blacklane airport transfer to or from Copenhagen Airport. Founded in Berlin in 2011, Blacklane offers a door-to-door premium chauffeur service across Copenhagen, making your airport transfer effortless and stress-free.
Parking at Copenhagen Airport
Copenhagen Airport provers over 8000 car parking spaces across twelve official car parks (P4 to P12, P15, P17 and P19). They are separated into four tiers separated by cost and convenience: Direct, Standard+, Standard, and Budget.
Direct (P4, P6, P7, P8): For the most direct access to the airport, choose one of these fully-covered parking garages. All of these parking garages are just a 3-minute walk from the terminals. P4 is closest to Terminal 2, while P6 sits adjacent to Terminal 3. However, direct parking is the most expensive, costing from around 360-450 DKK ($55-70 USD) per day.
Standard+ (P10): Also just a few minutes walk from the terminals, Standard+ has both covered and outdoor parking spaces, and costs around 260-300 DKK ($40-47 USD) per day.
Direct or Standard+? If you're traveling in winter or with a lot of luggage, Direct is worth the premium. If the weather's fine, Standard+ is good value.
Standard (P11, P12): The Standard car parks are located a little further from the terminals, and require a short shuttle to get you to departures. These parking garages cost roughly DKK 157 ($24 USD) per day.
P11 has a weekend discount, with prices starting from DKK 199 ($30 USD) from Thursday to Monday, but you must be parked over at least one of the weekend days (Saturday or Sunday) to qualify.
Budget (P15, P17, P19): Lastly the most affordable parking option is Copenhagen Airport’s Budget parking lots. They are located 1.5-2 km from the terminals, with a free 24/7 shuttle taking about 5-7 minutes. A week's Budget parking starts from around 450 DKK ($70 USD) when booked online in advance.
Kiss & Fly: Copenhagen Airport provides a "Kiss & Fly" drop-off zone at the western end of P4, with two lanes where you can briefly stop to drop off passengers without needing to park.
We Park You Fly: A “We Park You Fly” valet parking service is available in P6, located directly under Terminal 3. You will leave your vehicle with the valet and take the lift straight up to the terminal. This service must be booked in advance.
Copenhagen Airport: Terminal Overview
Copenhagen Airport has two active terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. There was an older Terminal 1 building historically, but it's no longer used for passenger departures or arrivals.
Terminal 2 handles most non-Schengen and international flights, while Terminal 3 is the main hub for Schengen and domestic routes. CPH Go (also referred to as the Go Zone), can be found in Terminal 3 is the airport's dedicated terminal pier for low-cost carriers. It opened in October 2010 and is now officially called Pier F, serving low-cost airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet.
However, once you're through security, the airport is effectively one big connected area. All gates across Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 share a common transit zone, so you just need to follow signs to your gate number. Terminal numbers essentially stop mattering once you're past check-in. If you need to travel between the two terminals landside, they are only about a 5-minute walk from each other.
As of writing, Copenhagen Airport is expanding and redeveloping Terminal 3, particularly the area between gates B and C. As a result, the terminal is undergoing a fair amount of building work. Work is expected to finish in 2027.
