How do you get to Düsseldorf Airport?
As one of Germany’s most important transport hubs, traveling to and from Düsseldorf Airport is both straightforward and convenient. The airport provides multiple ways to travel to and from nearby cities, including the train, S-Bahn, U-Bahn (metro), bus, and private transfer.
All public transport at the airport runs under the VRR (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr) network, and a single ticket covers buses, trams, U-Bahn and S-Bahn within the zones you travel through.
Traveling to Düsseldorf Airport by train
Regional: Seven Regional Express lines stop at the airport station. All run approximately every hour.
RE1 (Aachen–Cologne–Düsseldorf)
RE2 (Düsseldorf–Essen–Gelsenkirchen
RE3 (Düsseldorf–Duisburg–Oberhausen)

ICE: Long-distance trains also travel to Düsseldorf Airport, including the ICE 10 to Berlin via Hannover, and IC 51 provides a service to Erfurt.
Eurostar: With the Eurostar, you can travel from Düsseldorf Airport to Paris-Nord in just 4 hours. The line also connects to Brussels and London.
Travelers will need to take the SkyTrain, which is an automatic cabin railway service that connects the main train station to the terminal building. It runs every seven minutes from 3:45 AM to 0:45 AM.
Traveling to Düsseldorf Airport by S-Bahn
S11: The Düsseldorf Airport Terminal station in the basement of the terminal building is served exclusively by the S11, which runs from Bergisch Gladbach through Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof to the airport.
S1: The S1 can be reached from the main station (via the SkyTrain) and connects Dortmund, Bochum, Essen, Mülheim, and Duisburg to the airport, running every 20-30 minutes.
Traveling to Düsseldorf Airport by U-Bahn (under construction)
U81: The brand-new U81 is still under construction, but when complete it will connect Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof directly to the airport. It’s expected to be open by mid-2026.
Traveling to Düsseldorf Airport by bus
Multiple bus lines run through to, from, and through Düsseldorf Airport, connecting to locations across Germany and the rest of Europe.
From terminal bus station:
721: Runs to Tannenhof/Gothaer Weg via Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof. Runs roughly every 20 minutes and takes around 35 minutes to the city center.
760: Runs to Ratingen and Düsseldorf-Wittlaer-Bockum/Rosspfad every 20 to 30 minutes.
SB51: Runs to Kaarst-Rathaus via Nordfriedhof and Meerbusch every 20 minutes. This bus also stops at the airport station bus stop.
From the airport station bus stop (via SkyTrain):
729: Runs to Theodor-Heuss-Brücke in Düsseldorf-Golzheim.
759: Runs to Ratingen-Ost.
776: Runs to Mercedesstraße in Düsseldorf-Derendorf.
Traveling to Düsseldorf Airport by car
The airport connects directly to the autobahn network via the A44, taking Exit 31. Key feeder roads include the A3, A52, and A57. The airport and its direct motorway access are outside Düsseldorf's Environmental Zone, so no green sticker is required to drive directly to the terminal or on-site car parks.

Parking at Düsseldorf Airport
Parking at DUS is divided into two main zones: Terminal and Long-term, offering over 17,000 spaces in total. It’s generally advised to book parking in advance, to guarantee you are able to secure a spot upon arrival.
As of summer 2025, automatic licence plate recognition is used throughout Düsseldorf Airport’s parking garages, so no physical ticket is needed. EV charging points can be found in P3, P5, P7, and P8.
Terminal zone (P1, P2, P3, P7, P8)
All these parking garages are within 1-2 minutes walk of the terminal, and are best suited for short stays and provide maximum comfort, convenience, and safety. Daily maximums range from €30 EUR ($35 USD) at P7/P8, up to €33 EUR ($39 USD) at P2/P3, and €42 EUR ($50 USD) at P1, which sits directly beneath the terminal.
Long-term zone (P4, P5, P23, P24)
As the name suggests, the long-term zone is ideal if you need to keep your vehicle safe and secure for anything longer than a few days, and also provide the most affordable option for travelers.
P4 and P5 connect to the terminal via the SkyTrain and cost €92 ($108 USD) for up to 7 days. Outdoor lot P23 is a 5-minute walk from the terminal and also costs €92 for 7 days. P24 is a 15-minute walk away and costs €50 ($59 USD) for 7 days, which means it’s the cheapest on-site option.
Short-stay / Kiss & Fly (P11, P12)
P11 is recommended for drop-offs, located close to Departure C, while P12 is ideal for pick-ups, positioned right in front of Arrival C. Both charge €2.50 ($3 USD) per 15 minutes.
Düsseldorf Airport: Terminal Overview
Düsseldorf Airport has three terminals: Terminals A, B, and C, all of which can be found in a single building, making it very easy to move between all three. The central check-in hall is shared by all flights, and the area splits after security into Schengen and non-Schengen departures.
Terminal A has 16 gates (A01-A16), and is mostly used by Lufthansa, Eurowings, and their Star Alliance partners. Terminal B, with 11 gates (B01–B11), is used primarily for domestic and EU Schengen flights. What restaurants are available at Düsseldorf Airport?
Düsseldorf Airport has a great range of food and drink options across its three terminals. For a sit-down meal look no further than Palavrion, which is the airport's main grill restaurant serving up burgers and steaks with runway views. For a quick bite head to Bistrot for sandwiches and salads, or Kamps—a well-known German bakery chain. McDonald's and McCafé can be found in the arrivals area and are open 24 hours, making them one of the few round-the-clock options. Starbucks, Mövenpick Café, and Cafetiero are the best places to grab a coffee before you fly.
Shopping at Düsseldorf Airport
DUS has over 60 stores spread across the airport, both landside and airside. Heinemann Duty Free has stores in all three terminals, and each store has a distinct design inspired by Düsseldorf. For example, the Duty Free store in Terminal C is modeled on the city's famous Königsallee boulevard. They also feature a regional "Local Heroes" range selling local products like Killepitsch, Rhein Gin, and Siegfried Gin. This is the best place in the airport to purchase luxury items. Unusually for Germany, all shops are open seven days a week including Sundays—even the REWE City Markt so you won’t need to worry about being without groceries upon arrival.
