Munich International Airport terminal overview
Munich Airport has two main terminals and a midfield satellite. Terminal 1 serves a mix of international and regional airlines, while Terminal 2 is used primarily by Lufthansa and Star Alliance carriers. The satellite building, connected to Terminal 2 via an underground shuttle, expands capacity and improves passenger flow.
The Munich Airport Center (MAC), located between the two terminals, acts as a central hub. It features shops, restaurants, lounges, and transport links, including direct S-Bahn trains to central Munich.
Clear signage, intuitive layouts, and helpful staff make the airport easy to navigate, even for first-time visitors.
Transportation between terminals
A free shuttle bus runs between Terminals 1 and 2 every 10 minutes from 07:00 to 17:00, and every 20 minutes from 06:00–07:00 and 17:00–23:00. Travel time is approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
To reach the satellite gates (J/K/L) from Terminal 2, passengers take an underground shuttle train (PTS), which operates every 4 minutes from 04:00 to 00:00. The journey takes about one minute. Clear signage throughout the airport guides travelers to these connections.
