Blacklane integrates with Qunar, China’s largest travel company

Website reaching nearly 45 million monthly unique visitors lets Chinese business and leisure travelers easily book professional drivers for domestic and international travel

BERLIN & BEIJING – December 8, 2014 – Chinese travelers now have the convenience to book a professional driver around the world on China’s largest travel website. Qunar.com, which attracts nearly 45 million monthly unique visitors, has integrated with Blacklane, the provider of professional drivers at the lowest rates around the world.

The partnership will allow Chinese travelers to hire professionally driven cars, SUVs and vans in over 50 countries. Qunar.com displays flat rates of transfers between airports and travelers’ homes and hotels that include all fees, gratuities and tolls in Chinese Yuan.

“Our customers want a single site to meet all of their travel needs from the moment they leave their homes until they return. Once in transit, they desire the familiarity and consistency of a high-quality experience,” said Mr. Quan Gan, head of international car service at Qunar. “Blacklane’s low rates, global reach, and convenience help us to build on our innovative edge for Chinese travelers around the world.”

“International travelers value a reliable, consistent travel experience that removes barriers like currency exchange and uncertainty of local taxi experiences,” said Dr. Jens Wohltorf, co-founder and CEO of Blacklane. “It’s a perfect match to bring the largest Chinese travel site together with the global provider of professional drivers at the lowest rates.”

China is the largest source of international outbound tourism according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), spending $129 billion in 2013. Also, the Chinese government is targeting domestic tourism to reach $894 billion by 2020, more than double 2013 spending.

The Blacklane-Qunar integration starts with 30 cities in Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America, including Bangkok, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Paris, New York, Sydney, Tokyo and Toronto. The companies will integrate all of Blacklane’s 150 cities to meet the demands of Chinese travelers.

This is also a major move for Blacklane, allowing the company to further build its brand under Chinese travelers as well as expand more quickly in the region.
