Dubai Airport at a glance
Official name: Dubai International Airport
IATA Code: DXB
Location: Al Garhoud, Dubai
Terminals: DXB has 3 Terminals: Terminal 1 (International), Terminal 2 (Regional), Terminal 3 (Emirates and partner airlines)
Transport: DXB is easily reached with the Metro, bus, and private transfer

How to get to Dubai International Airport
The best way to get to Dubai Airport is using the connected Dubai Metro Red Line, bus services, or via private car transfer.
Traveling to DXB by metro
Dubai Metro Red Line: The Red Line connects Terminal and Terminal 3 to the city center and ends at Expo City Dubai. Terminal 2 has no metro station — you'd need a bus or taxi to reach it. Trains run roughly every 3–5 minutes during peak hours and every 7–10 minutes off-peak, generally from around 5–5:30 AM until midnight. It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Dubai Airport from Downtown/Dubai Mall from the airport. Metro fares are zone-based, and cost roughly AED 3 (USD 0.85) for a single zone with a Nol Card.
Note: You cannot pay for the metro with a contactless card, so you will need a physical or virtual RTA Nol Card, or a single-use Red Ticket to ride.
Traveling to DXB by bus
RTA: Dubai has several bus routes that connect to Terminal 1, 2, and 3. At the time of writing, several routes have had temporary stop changes due to roadworks near the airport, so it's important to double-check their live status on the RTA app before you travel for up-to-date information. You will also need to pay with your Nol Card. At Terminal 1, buses stop just outside the arrivals/exit gates after baggage claim — you'll see bus bays right opposite the exit. Arriving passengers find the bus/coach parking area just outside Arrivals.
At Terminal 3, departing passengers can find buses/shuttles in the Departures Area on Level 2, signposted "Buses & Shuttles" as you exit the departure hall.
Traveling to Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is an outlier at Dubai Airport and is not connected to the metro line, so you will need to travel by bus or private transfer. Bus Route F27 connects T2 to the Al Nahda Metro Station, and Route 43 terminates at Terminal 2. Route 20 and Route 25 also run via T2.
Traveling to DXB by car
For Terminal 1, follow signs for Dubai International Airport, Terminal 1, off Airport Road, and head into Car Park A or B for drop-off or parking.
For Terminal 2 take the exit for Terminal 2 off Casablanca Road (on the northeast side of the airport, separate from T1/T3), and use its single standard parking area.
For Terminal 3 follow signs for Terminal 3 off Airport Road, choosing Premium or Economy parking depending on how close you want to be.
Drop-off at DXB
There is no free curbside drop-off at DXB in the traditional sense. Instead, the airport has designated drop-off areas located on the Departure level of each terminal. These areas have a time limit for parking.
Pick-up at DXB
There are no free waiting/pick-up zones directly outside the terminal doors — only authorized vehicles are allowed to stop there. To pick someone up in your own vehicle, you'll need to use one of the paid car parks, or use valet.
DXB Terminal 1 pickup: Exit the terminal building and go right toward Car Park A1. Cross the road, turn right toward Car Park A1, Pickup Areas 2 & 3.
DXB Terminal 2 pickup: Exit the terminal, turn immediately right, then follow signs to the “pick-up zone”. Turn left and cross the road to the car park. Enter the car park, walk to the pickup zone sign, turn left into the pickup zone.
DXB Terminal 3 pickup: Exit and cross the road toward the car park. Go through the tunnel toward the car park. Turn right upon entering the car park to reach the pickup area.
Note: Terminal 3 now has a dedicated ride-share waiting lounge right at the authorized pickup zone opposite the terminal. It is air-conditioned, with seating and a queue system for, so you can wait indoors rather than curbside.
Regular metered taxis operate right from official taxi ranks just outside the Arrivals area.
Book with Blacklane: For total convenience and peace of mind, book your personal Blacklane chauffeur to transport you directly from downtown Dubai to your departing terminal at DXB.
Blacklane vehicles are authorized to use DXB’s VIP arrival lanes for pickups at Terminals 1 and 3. Your professional chauffeur will greet you in Arrivals and transport you to your waiting vehicle, so you can focus on other things, while leaving the transfer to us.

Dubai International Airport terminals overview
DXB functions as a bustling aviation hub with its three expansive terminal buildings.
Terminal 1: Terminal 1 handles most international departures, and is the airport’s oldest and largest terminal. Within T1, long-haul gates (the D-Gates/Concourse D) are only reachable by an internal train, not on foot.
Terminal 2: Serving as the main hub for Flydubai, Terminal 2 primarily handles domestic and charter flights, with some international routes.
Terminal 3: Terminal 3 is almost exclusively dedicated to Emirates Airlines, along with partner airlines like Qantas.
Which airlines fly from DXB?
Terminal 1 T1 represents nearly 90 international carriers across all three major alliances—Star Alliance, SkyTeam, and oneworld. Notable airlines include Air Canada, Air India, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Gulf Air, KLM, Lufthansa, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines, and United.
Terminal 2 flydubai, plus a mix of regional and charter operators serving nearby markets.
Terminal 3 Emirates (the terminal's primary tenant), Qantas, and select flydubai flights.
Note: Terminal 3 covers Emirates flights broadly, but that doesn't tell you which concourse (A, B, or C) you'll actually depart from. Concourse assignment is separate from check-in and often isn't confirmed until closer to your flight, and while B and C are walkable; A needs a train ride.
For a full breakdown of airlines by terminal, visit the Dubai International Airline directory.
Getting between terminals at DXB
The three terminals at DXB are spread out enough that getting between them takes some planning—you can't just walk between them.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are the closest together, connected by the DXB Airport Train, a dedicated airport shuttle. It takes roughly 5 minutes and it's free and continuous. Note: This connection works airside (if you're transiting), so you will need to move T1 and T3 by taxi/car if you've already cleared immigration.
Terminal 2 involves a bit more planning. T2 is located in a separate, smaller building some distance away, and there's no direct airside train link to it. If you need to get from T2 to T1 or T3 (or vice versa), you will need to do so landside (after immigration), by taxi, the Dubai Metro, or a private transfer. Keep this in mind if you're connecting between an airline at T2 (mainly flydubai) and one at T1 or T3—it's not a quick hop.
Terminal 3 is split into Concourse A and Concourses B/C, which are large but internally connected, so there’s no need to re-clear security or travel landside to move between them. Concourse A is connected to the others with an internal train. Concourse B and C are close enough that you can walk between them airside.
How to navigate Dubai International Airport
With three massive terminals, navigating DXB can be confusing. However, the airport provides a detailed and up-to-date airport map which helps passengers find amenities, gates, and information points.
How to use the Dubai Airport Map
The interactive Dubai Airport Map is split between Terminal 1, 2 and 3. Terminal 3 is further split into Concourse A, B, and C. Using the map will help determine the best terminal at Dubai Airport, which will depend on the airline you’re traveling with.
For each terminal, the Dubai airport terminal map outlines important information like gates, security check, check-in, and transport. It also highlights baby changing facilities, dining, relaxation areas, and Meet & Greet locations.
To search for specific services and facilities, simply navigate to the Search bar at the top left-hand side of the DXB terminal map. The tool will split search results by Terminal and highlight them on the interactive map.
You can use the search tool to find check-in halls, arrivals and departures, metro stations, taxi and private-car pickup areas, parking zones, and lounges.
